🍲 Chicken and Cabbage Casserole

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken (shredded or cubed)
  • 1 medium cabbage (chopped)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 2–3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 cup carrots (optional, sliced or grated)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup milk or cooking cream (optional for creaminess)
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or thyme
  • ½–1 cup shredded cheese (optional topping)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the base

  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Sauté onion + garlic until soft and fragrant

2. Cook the cabbage

  • Add chopped cabbage (and carrots if using)
  • Cook 5–8 minutes until slightly softened

3. Add chicken

  • Stir in cooked chicken
  • Add salt, pepper, paprika, herbs

4. Make it saucy

  • Pour in chicken broth
  • Add milk/cream if using
  • Simmer 5 minutes so flavors combine

5. Bake it

  • Transfer everything to a baking dish
  • Top with cheese (optional but tasty)
  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden

💡 Tips

  • For a lighter version: skip cheese and cream
  • For more flavor: add a splash of soy sauce or lemon juice
  • For low-carb diets: this dish is already very carb-light
  • You can also cook it fully on the stovetop if you don’t want to bake

  • High in fiber (cabbage)
  • Filling but relatively low calorie
